Help Millers Creek by capturing rainwater on your property and putting it to good use. Plant a rain garden, install a rain barrel or two, direct your downspouts away from hard pavement and into your garden, plant a tree . . .
Millers Creek is currently threatened by the deluge of water entering the stormdrains every time it rains. The large amount of water during storms is highly erosive to Millers Creek and is the source of most of its problems.
The Huron River Watershed Council (HRWC) is seeking to help slow the flow of stormwater in the headwaters of the west branch of Millers Creek.
The headwaters come from the area around Thurston and Clague Schools, Thurston Pond & Nature Center, Orchard Hills, Bromley and the Plymouth Road Mall. These neighborhoods are connected by underground pipes that take stormwater from rooftops, sidewalks, driveways and streets and send it directly to Millers Creek, which flows along Huron Parkway.
If you live in the headwaters neighborhood, Millers Creek needs your help. Lend it a hand and welcome the rain into the ground.
